Carey was once a popular fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was sought-after by the top American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. Her father is a renowned geologist who was voted Scientist Of The Year 1979, at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey is a resident of all over the world as a result his career. When she was a student at an institution called the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. The Ford's model agency located in New York noticed her and offered to help. In 1980, she moved to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris as well as Bordeaux, before returning back to New York in order to explore her modeling career. She appeared on Vogue as well as Glamour covers. In between her modeling assignments she was a full time student, completing a master's degree in literature at New York University. Then she became interested in acting, and began taking classes in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She began her acting career by playing a minor character in 'Club Pardise which aired in 1986 alongside Robin Williams. White water rafting, skis and rock climbing are among her preferred things to do.
