
American actor Thomas William Selleck. His most notable character was Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988) in which he earned five Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead actor in the Drama Series with the winner being announced in 1985. From 2010 to the year 2010, Selleck has played the role of New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. In nine television films based upon the Robert B. Parker novels in which he portrayed Jesse Stone, a troubled small-town police chief, beginning in 2005. Selleck also starred in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and Three Men and a Little Lady(1990). From the time of Magnum, P.I., the actor has appeared in more than 50 roles on television and in films, including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He appeared in recurring television roles as Monica Geller's love interest Dr. Richard Burke on Friends, as Lance White, the likeable and innocent partner on The Rockford Files, and as casino owner A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also played the lead role in the television western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and is a spokesperson for National Rifle Association (NRA) and endorser of advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
